About Us

The Full Story

Hessle and District Gardeners’ Association was established in 1947. It aims to promote the benefits of leisure gardening and allotment holding to the people of Hessle and district. In addition the association holds an annual show and other social events.  It also purchases a range of horticultural items. These are sold on to members at very reasonable prices via the trading shop on the Boothferry Road allotment site.

The association does not manage allotments in Hessle, these are administered by Hessle Town Council. It does provide advisory members to Hessle Town Council’s Environment Committee which is responsible for the allotment sites in Hessle.

Membership is open to all residents of Hessle and district, and to the holders of local allotments. Membership is only £1 per year, which can easily be saved on your first purchase from the shop. To join call in at the shop or see a member of the committee.
